Why You Should Use Certified Wood Installers
When it comes time to install a new floor or sand and refinish an existing one, look for certified installers and mechanics from either the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) or the Certified Floor Covering Installers CFI).
Not only can you be sure they are fully trained but also that their skills are up to date. Both organizations require hands-on training to earn certification and ongoing education every year in order to maintain it.
And yes, while hardwood flooring is eminently DIY-able, not for every job is recommended for novices. With hardwood floors, perhaps more than any other flooring product, there is a level of skill required for more intensive and difficult jobs than most DIYers possess.
According to the NWFA, more than 40 wood flooring manufacturers recommend using a certified professional for installation. When it comes to inspections – say you have a faulty or problem floor – then only a certified inspector will do.
Look for either of these logos – certified installers wear their badges with pride.
